Wetaskiwin Home School Art Classes
Children will experience a variety of drawing, painting and other fun art projects, using many types of materials and learning loads of valuable art information. Margot Soltice has been creating art all her life. She lives by Pigeon Lake and offers classes there, in Edmonton and Ponoka. No experience necessary. All skill levels welcome. Lesson 1- Drawing: learn some basics in how to see what you are going to draw. Mixed: Artist Trading Cards, using acrylic paint.
Lesson 2- Drawing: learn about tools, pattern hunt. Mixed: Creating pockets in journals. Play with background techniques with acrylic paint.
Lesson 3- Origami. Drawing: shading. Mixed: Try some oil pastels.
Lesson 4- Drawing: Instruction re: “draw what you see”, using a number of techniques. Mixed: Add texture and dimension, using various painting techniques and other materials. Homework for lesson 5: collect “found objects” (preferably, not manufactured stickers or scrapbook materials. Think: cool, fun symbols, flat objects that can fit in the art journal. Be creative.)
Lesson 5- Drawing: Perspective. Mixed: Learn about layering with various media.
Lesson 6- Drawing: Draw from real life, using negative space. Mixed: Colour building using water colour paint. Learn how water colour is different from acrylics.
Students should bring an “art journal”. This is typically a hard-bound, heavier papered (90-140 lb paper) coil bound book. Also please supply one 3H pencil and one 3B pencil, a white eraser, a pencil sharpener and a paint shirt.
