Term 2 - Playing with Media
Tuesdays March 22, April 5- 26, May 3 AM Class Ages 6 - 11, 9:30AM - 12:30PM PM Class Ages 12 - 18, 1:30PM - 4:30PM $150 + minimal supplies (10% student discount)
Home School Drawing is recommended, but not essential to take before this class.Your budding artists will experiment with various mediums and learn new techniques each week. This course even offers a look into the art and mind of an old master, giving the students some art history.
March 22
Art postcards, using acrylic paint, drawing and other media. Creating pockets in journals and adding texture and dimension, using various painting techniques and materials.
April 5
Learn about layering with various media. Origami.  Think: cool, fun symbols, flat objects that can fit in the art journal. Be creative.
April 12
Create mood with colour. Build on a theme using collage and found objects. Learning to plan ahead. April 19 Play with water colour techniques. Choose a subject and paint it using choice of techniques. Incorporate stitching/ fibre art.
April 26
Poetry and motion. Visually express emotion in student- chosen poetry. Stencil making. Homework: gather pictures and other flat memorabilia. May 3
Bees wax on wood. Creating a painting and adding texture and dimension with wax.
Margot Soltice is an Edmonton-born and raised and has been largely a self-taught artist. Spending summers residing at Pigeon Lake was a huge contributor to Margot's creativity, and remains her inspiration today. Margot's work is multi-faceted. She enjoys playing with a variety of different mediums including watercolour, pen and ink, acrylic, mosaics, printmaking, clay sculpting and multimedia.

Wetaskiwin Home School Art Classes
Children will experience a variety of drawing, painting and other fun art projects, using many types of materials and learning loads of valuable art information. Margot Soltice has been creating art all her life. She lives by Pigeon Lake and offers classes there, in Edmonton and Ponoka. No experience necessary. All skill levels welcome. Cost:$60/child
Lesson 1- Drawing: learn some basics in how to see what you are going to draw. Mixed: Artist Trading Cards, using acrylic paint.
Lesson 2- Drawing: learn about tools, pattern hunt. Mixed: Creating pockets in journals. Play with background techniques with acrylic paint.
Lesson 3- Origami.  Drawing: shading. Mixed: Try some oil pastels.
Lesson 4- Drawing: Instruction re: “draw what you see”, using a number of techniques. Mixed: Add texture and dimension, using various painting techniques and other materials. Homework for lesson 5: collect “found objects” (preferably, not manufactured stickers or scrapbook materials. Think: cool, fun symbols, flat objects that can fit in the art journal. Be creative.)
Lesson 5- Drawing: Perspective. Mixed: Learn about layering with various media.
Lesson 6- Drawing: Draw from real life, using negative space. Mixed: Colour building using water colour paint. Learn how water colour is different from acrylics.

Students should bring an “art journal”. This is typically a hard-bound, heavier papered (90-140 lb paper) coil bound book. Also please supply one 3H pencil and one 3B pencil, a white eraser, a pencil sharpener and a paint shirt.
